It's 12/13/12 and We're Still Here?

The excitement of 12/12/12 is over. Again, the end of the world has not come. We're still alive! The end of the world has come and gone countless of times and I'm starting to realize how bored people are. We want things to change. We want to feel a global shift. We want the economy to crash so we won't owe money anymore. We want to feel a huge planetary revelation because we are currently in a rut.

The big lesson I've learned from living through the start and end of a new millennium is that if I want things to change, its up to me to change them. I can't rely on the shift of planetary movements. There is no perfect astrological alignment that will beckon a time of change for me. If I want change, I need to take action now. After all,  the world can end any second.

Of course, this reminds me of a Robert Frost Poem:

You'll wait a long, long time for anything much
To happen in heaven beyond the floats of cloud
And the Northern Lights that run like tingling nerves.
The sun and moon get crossed, but they never touch,
Nor strike out fire from each other nor crash out loud.
The planets seem to interfere in their curves
But nothing ever happens, no harm is done.
We may as well go patiently on with our life,
And look elsewhere than to stars and moon and sun
For the shocks and changes we need to keep us sane.
It is true the longest drouth will end in rain,
The longest peace in China will end in strife.
Still it wouldn't reward the watcher to stay awake
In hopes of seeing the calm of heaven break
On his particular time and personal sight.
That calm seems certainly safe to last to-night.

  1. We still have the main end-of-the-world date to come Lacey - 21-12-12 according to the Mayan calender. Bloody nuisance really - I get paid on the 22nd :(

Seriously though, the belief that there is no external reality and that what we 'see' outside ourselves is pure illusion, created by us as individuals, and humanity as a whole, seems to make sense to me.

By the way, your ramblings are far from insane. Unless I am insane of course :)

"... We may as well go patiently on with our life,
And look elsewhere than to stars and moon and sun ..." Absolutely!

  2. Yes Vic, every time I survive the end of the world, someone tells me that it wasn't the REAL end and gives me another date. Lol. I was under the impression that 12-21-12 was the date when the Mayans ran out of room to continue making the calendar.
Funny how we write the month before the day here in the U.S.

Alas, I find that I have stopped writing every little thought that comes to mind. This is probably why I don't sound as insane as I used to. Lol. It is still lovely to gaze at the stars, whether it means anything to us or not. ;)

  3. I reckon that's how it's really meant to be, Lacey - have no fear, live in the moment. Gazing at the stars with full attention is one of the best things we can do.

How is The Enlightened Ones coming?

By the way, totally agree with you about facebook. I deleted my account a couple of weeks ago. Pure control is its agenda.

    Chill :)

Ha! Sorry, I missed the irony in that the first time. Looking forward to seeing what the Mayan calender believers say next Saturday. If we are still here that is (gulp)

  5. Lol, Vic, where did you here me complain about facebook? Hahaha, could be anywhere I guess. Yeah, its a conspiracy. When I start talking conspiracies, you'll see my insane rambling side come out.

The Enlightened Ones is in its final stages. I was working with the line editor to polish it and put it aside because I realized my Christmas tree wasn't up and I hadn't gone Christmas shopping yet. I figured that if I die tomorrow, at least the novel is very nearly finished and can be published posthumously. Therefore, it wouldn't hurt to live up to my motherly duties for the holidays. ;)

  6. You dissed Fakebook on Twitter. Conspiracies? We are on the same page then. It's so obvious ... so in yer face, that the majority of the masses can't see it. I loved obama's fake tears for the recent tragedy at Newtown. Nearly as convincing as tony bliar's shock and sadness for Princess Diana when she was murdered.

But ... light always overcomes darkness and I strongly believe that the darkness is dissolving, even though sometimes it seems like we are in pitch black.

I'm looking forward to learning more about The Enlightened One's in the new year.

A fantastic christmas to you and yours, Lacey ;0)

  7. Thanks Vic! Have a great Holiday, Solstice, Christmas, Quanza. Hannikah went well I think. Of course, the end of the world is tomorrow again so I feel like celebrating! If that doesn't come. Have a wonderful New Year! ;)
